I am familiar with the basic economy and am interested in the economy of late development. Can you please recommend some good books relating to this so that I may cultivate my interest? Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
In my Development Econ class we read Kicking Away the Ladder by Ha-Joon Chang. Chang is a professor at Cambridge that focuses on Development Economics. In this book he describes how once a nation is developed they kick away the ladder from the smaller developing nations. Therefore the gap between the developed and non-developed nations widens. Great read and I highly recommend it.

I love this book. We discussed this a lot of times. I guess it's the existence of such scheme that made me really interested in this book. We all have our own theories why some developing countries just keeps on developing but never make it. His writings about it really opened my eye to the reality of what actions are being done to keep weaker countries stay the same for the benefit of the elite ones.
